Music

The music ministry of St. Alphonsus is dedicated to excellence in liturgical music. We seek to inspire and lead the assembled worshipers each Sunday in a variety of hymns, songs, and great choral music. Each choir has a unique role in the parish’s life.

New volunteer choir members are always welcome. For more information or to schedule an audition, contact Music Director, Brian Bloye at alphonsusmusic@ameritech.net.

The St. Alphonsus Choir

The St. Alphonsus Choir sings at the 9:00 a.m. liturgy each Sunday from October through Corpus Christi.

In addition to leading congregational song, we sing a variety of challenging, often unaccompanied choral repertoire: four- to eight-part anthems in all styles, Latin Masses and motets, chants, Gospel spirituals, and newly-composed music.

The choir rehearses on Sunday mornings at 8:00 a.m. prior to Mass. We meet one evening per month to prepare for larger works and liturgical feasts.

The St. Alphonsus Ensemble

The St. Alphonsus Ensemble leads the music at the 5:00 p.m. liturgy on Sundays from October through Corpus Christi. Singers are joined by piano, bass, percussion, and other instruments. The music has a contemporary appeal and can be both energizing and reflective. We rehearse on Sundays at 3:30 p.m. prior to Mass.
