Ways to Volunteer

There are dozens of ways to become involved in the many activities of the parish. We welcome you to contact us and let us know how you would like to be a part of what makes the parish run!

Liturgical Ministries

Our liturgies are prayerful and reverent. It takes the work of many to make this happen every week. Click here to find out more.

If you are interested in participating in our music ministry, contact Brian Bloye, Director of Music.

We offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the 10:30 mass in English and the 12:15 mass in Spanish. If you would like to be involved, contact Carlos Roman.

Education and Formation Ministries

We have a number of volunteers who work with adults and children in our catechetical ministries, including as a RCIA team member and in the Tuesday Religious Education program. If you are interested in exploring the opportunities, contact Carlos Roman.

FOCCUS is a guided conversation facilitated by a mentor couple, working with those who are engaged. If you are interested in being mentors, contact Nora Ramirez to inquire about training.

Social and Fundraising Opportunities

Oktoberfest is the largest fundraiser in the parish. It happens every year from Friday to Sunday on the last weekend in September. Over 500 volunteers are needed to welcome our thousands of guests. A core team organizes the entire ‘fest. If you are interested in becoming a part of the team, contact Travis Hartinger, the Oktoberfest chair.

Art & Soul is the largest fundraiser each year for Alphonsus Academy and Center for the Arts. It takes place on the first Saturday evening in February, featuring food and drink, music, and fabulous silent and live auctions. For more information about how you can be involved, contact Mandy Moody.

Trivia Night is an annual event in January, where teams test their wits and win fun prizes. If you are interested in helping to plan it, contact the Young Adult Ministry.

Helping the parish community

The Knights of Columbus are the largest Catholic fraternal organization in the world. The St. Alphonsus Council has a strong group of motivated new Knights from all walks of life, now numbering 135 strong and growing. To find out more information about the Knights of Columbus here at St. Alphonsus, feel free to contact them.

Cleaning Angels meet every 3rd Saturday of the month to help beautify our Church!  This is a fun activity that can involve the whole family. All cleaning products are provided; simply sign up at the main page of our website. For more information, please contact our Cleaning Angels coordinator Erika Rodriguez.

Hospitality Committee members organize periodic dinners to welcome new parishioners. If you are interested in being part of this ministry, contact Nora Ramirez.

Ministers of Care bring Holy Communion and companionship to those who are unable to leave their homes. They attend an Archdiocesan training for six sessions, which is held in the fall. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Nancy Oliver.

Helping the school community

If you are interested in getting involved with tutoring or coaching students in our school, contact Tom Newman, our AACA Assistant Principal.

Protecting God’s Children

Any adult working in an activity that involves minors needs to go through a background check and training that is part of the Protecting God’s Children covenant made by the United States Bishops. You can click on this link to get started on this process.
